So, in general, how much do y'all move around while spinning your meteor? (walking, running, rotating, somersaulting, etc) I'm usually pretty much in one spot, and rotate around a bit. I've seen the women of the Shanghai Circus do somesaults, and move around a fair amount. It seems like rotating can allow you to get your rope spinning really fast, and allow you to unwind the wraps as they are wrapping. This is quite handy when attempting to avoid garroting oneself. ^_^

Re: mobility
Fri, July 15, 2005 - 2:15 PMI generally either
- stand in one place and spin the meteor around me, or
- try and leave the plane of the meteor in once place and move around it
- or I just run around and spin and dance with whoever is doing staff or poi around me.
I have spent a lot more time working on my fast passing and mobility then in moves like say the behind the back pass. Id really like to work more with other meteor spinners to break down and learn the physics behind why certain hand positions work best etc.
I spent a lot of time breaking down the different types of passes I could pull off, which has prooved invaluable when trying to adjust back to the sweet spots.
I have also played with the fishtail with I can hold for about 4 or 5 weaves, practicing that has also prooved invaluable when a pass fails and I have the meteor hooked around my wrist I can usually save it without it looking too ugly.
I really want to learn more rolls and tumbles so I can dosome horizontal rotor rolls on the ground but I just injured my knee so I have to hold off on that for a while.
