And I was just thinking this tribe had gotten too quiet. The best foundation you can have with the meteor is spinning it like a staff. By that I mean it is perfectly straight from end to end while being spun. You should be able to do this vertically and horizontally. The thing to remember when starting out is to pay attention to your leading edge, and, in the beginning, choke up on that leading edge, so that it is shorter than the trailing edge. Once you're accustomed to the meteor behaving like a staff you can move your grip back closer to the center. Spinning vertically is going to be easier at first, so picking up the forwards and backwards figure eight will be 'fairly' easy, your horizontal spins will be much harder, it helps to start them from having both hands at one side, kind of like the way a bullfighter holds his cape for the bull.
