Re: Need help..
Tue, October 3, 2006 - 3:01 PMAnd I was just thinking this tribe had gotten too quiet. The best foundation you can have with the meteor is spinning it like a staff. By that I mean it is perfectly straight from end to end while being spun. You should be able to do this vertically and horizontally. The thing to remember when starting out is to pay attention to your leading edge, and, in the beginning, choke up on that leading edge, so that it is shorter than the trailing edge. Once you're accustomed to the meteor behaving like a staff you can move your grip back closer to the center. Spinning vertically is going to be easier at first, so picking up the forwards and backwards figure eight will be 'fairly' easy, your horizontal spins will be much harder, it helps to start them from having both hands at one side, kind of like the way a bullfighter holds his cape for the bull. Have fun with it tho, feel free to ask any more questions here, hopefully others will have something to add as well. Happy spinning -

Re: Need help..
Tue, October 10, 2006 - 5:38 PMHeaviest ends that you can stand seems to work best. Jared's is almost 5 foot, and I'm 6 foot tall myself, and it's good.
"That contact staff around your hand move"
umm... got a vid? -

Re: Need help..
Mon, October 23, 2006 - 12:56 PMI am 5"6' and spinning a 6" meteor.
I don't know what other people like, but thats what I am digging right now. You can always make interchangable lenghts for the center, rope is inexpensive. experiment a bit. :) -

Re: Need help..
Tue, October 24, 2006 - 10:30 AMI like those staff-like moves!
I do all horizontal stuff, and my shortest meteor is eight feet. Lots of body and neck wrapping.
So, I don't really have any meteor suggestions. But, when I spin a staff, I find that it works best in the vertical when it is my height or less. Some people think it should be the height of your chin. Good luck!
