Fri, July 21, 2006 - 4:06 PMwrong again, I spin rope dart too eh ;) So that makes 3, 4 if you count Sara. And there's another girl in the camp who spins meteor or rope dart, I forget which, and I'm probrably forgetting someone else. -

Re: Burningman Meteor Workshop Schedule
Sat, July 22, 2006 - 12:25 PMok there are other rope dart students but hardly anyone I would consider as skillful as Ian. I do admit I have never seen Musashii rock the rope dart so i there might be two rope dart masters and two meteor masters. but of course I call my self a meteor master having not seen musashiis new moves in almost a year.

Re: Burningman Meteor Workshop Schedule
Wed, August 2, 2006 - 7:16 PMIf I bring some supplies are you teaching how to make a practice meteor, I have tried to get the damn monkey knot but I just suck at it and none of my friends can get it either heh. Maybe I should give up on it and do it some other way but no time really before BM with my zillion other projects. Be fun to learn it though!! Maybe I can trade ya a hula hoop or something hehe. -

Re: Burningman Meteor Workshop Schedule
Wed, August 2, 2006 - 11:57 PMIf you bring tons of rope, at least 20ft and some weights and maybe some cotton ill show you how to make a sick practice meteor, that goes for everyone of course. oh and some needle nose pliers.
make sure your rope is between 1/8th and 1/2 inch and is soft to the tough, aka nice on the hands, and wont ware away from constant rubbing. The blue and white pool rope at home depot is awesome!
see you on the playa! -

Re: Burningman Meteor Workshop Schedule
Thu, August 3, 2006 - 5:58 PMGolf balls might be to big. the ball will show through the knot. Maybe some marbles?....anything thats about 3/4 inch to 1 inch in diameter. Ive even balled up some aluminum foil to fit what ever size I need, but that isn't very weighty. I've thought that molding some sculpey clay into balls would be perfect but haven't tried it yet.

Re: Burningman Meteor Workshop Schedule
Fri, August 4, 2006 - 4:10 PMboth golf balls and aluminum foil are not even near heavy enough =] in fact aren't they both specifically designed to be light? hehe
i use lead finish weight in the 2-3 ounces zone. As for size golf balls are better then marbles but weight is way more important since you can pretty much put anything in the fist without any problems.
so yeah, you'll want at least 2-4 ounces of weight, other then that its up to you. I use led because it small for its size.
see you at the burn -
