This group's been soo dead. Soo, who's going to BM and what bag of tricks are you brining?

This will be my first adventure to BM and I'm hoping to glean and share lots of info from folks. I've been working with meteors in earnest now for a couple of months and am enjoying the hell out of it. I look forward to meetin you all!

Peace,
- Sui

I think I've volunteered to teach a class at burning man, in an attempt to lure more skilled meteor spinners who can teach me tricks.

    It's a surprisingly good plan.

I look forward to meetin ya Sam! Rope dart and meteors have become my toys of choice recently.
      Meteor stuff I'm workin with:
      BTB rotor
      horizontal rotor toss
      horiz rotor toss bounce
      Neck rotation contact
      spiral wraps (poi)
      waist wrap (poi)
      inverts and hyperloops (poi)
      Buzzsaw (poi)
      glowstringer type wraps (basic)

Need to figure out some more contact maneuvers.

      Fun stuffs!!

      Peace,
      - Sui

doing wraps: focus on timing to get both ends to stall out at the same time, and choke out, so you've only got about a foot of meteor on each side, that makes it a whole lot eaiser.

BTB Rotor eludes me, but I really want it. I think what I need to do is get extra joints in my arm.

Neck rotation contact sucks. We've been working some contact meteor, but it really doesn't fit in with the rest of the meteor stuff I do (fast). It works best when I move around the meteor.

You should talk or meet with Musashii (who is now ONE OF US SF area folk) about those horizontal rotor tosses (I call 'em helixes). He's good at that and the toss bounce move too.

wraps: If I understand you properly you're referring to spiral wraps? Yeah, you definitely want a bit of slack in center so you can force the wrap out and getting your hands in equal positions at the start is key (so both ends wrap equally). There's some fun things you can do with spiral wraps:
.Look cool (cause, hell, fire spiral wraps do look damned cool) :P
          .Change spin direction (obvious)
.Change plane, vert to horiz and vice versa.. can't remember how far I got with this, one direction was easier than the other if I remember correctly.

BTB rotor.. I only ever go for a couple rotations. It seems easier to start than a normal rotor, but I find any deviance is very hard to recover from.. usually ending up with a monkey fist bruise on the leg or head somewhere (which is why I tend to stick with only a few rotations). Do you ever work with BTB staff rotors? I find it a direct translation from the way I do the BTB staff rotor.

Neck rotation.. Yeah, mixing fast spinning and slow contact is not usually pretty (my opinion). I generally spin at a slower cadence, so there's not a high amount of speed variance with the neck rotation. I actually really like the way it feels and combo it as high horiz rotor -> neck rotation -> BTB pass -> high horiz rotor. Dunno how it looks yet, but I like the way it feels.

I met Musashii once in Portland, great guy. He was showing Jaine some meteor moves at one point, but I totally missed it :(. The horiz rotor tosses just take a crapload of practice.. If you don't get the throw straight up, then it's a beast to deal with on the way down. If I can get it a bit more solid, I'll start workin on varying the catch.

Ahwell, cool, thanks for the input. I'm gettin excited to go play in the desert.

          Peace,
          - Sui
