wiki.spinmeteor.org is birthed!

spinmeteor.org is intended to be a free community-written resource (wiki) for information about spinning meteor. Right now its has very little content but it's all setup and waiting to be filling with data. My hope is that by making this available people like Chris B, Robert, Squid (and the rest of us) will find it easier to store our definitions and descriptions there and then post a link in this tribe (or anywhere else).

Right now the wiki has namespaces to defined Terms, Moves and Fuels. Here are some examples:

wiki.spinmeteor.org/Move:Butterfly
wiki.spinmeteor.org/Move:5_beat_weave
wiki.spinmeteor.org/Move:Wrist_wrap
wiki.spinmeteor.org/Fuel:White_gas

The line between Terms and Moves gets a bit blurry so I'm hoping Robert, Chris B (and anyone else interested) will in helping me draw a finer line. For example should we consider "butterfly" a term and then consider "forward butterfly" and "reverse butterfly" move names? Lets discuss. =]

I hope this is something you all embrace whole heartedly. I think is has the potential to become a great resource we all can shape and share. Feel free to make your self a free account and just start adding content and if you have any questions please feel free to email me.

THANKS!!

I'm up for working some terms out but have just been a tad busy the past few days. I'll give a good looking over the wiki tonight though.

great! is anyone against using groups.google.com/group/spin-meteor to discus the wiki. a lot of the meteor tribe.net people may not want to hear a lot of wiki traffic.

Chris, when you get a chance post a list of terms and moves to be described and ill take a wack at whatever I can.

I'm spinning some fire meteor tonight and I'll try and get some pictures and videos up soon.

        thanks people!!

I joined the group, though I don't expect to be overly active in any of this... working on too many props as it is.. but I do have some extra kevlar... hrm....

But yeah, I've sort of got off on a tangent writing a paper applying twist geometry to staff/meteor. I'll post it to the google group for peer review whenever I finish it Other than that I'm a lurker who will chime in if I ever have something useful to say.

            Something useful to say:

The difficulty with the Wiki is that we need to settle on names for moves before we can write articles, since they're going to be linked by their names. Catch-22, no?

              nope not a catch 22

go ahead and write whatever you want and name it whatever you call it. We can always move pages and redirect the old name to the new etc later. The more data we get in there the more other people will want to come in and add to or update it.

Feel free to go hog wild and I'll be monitoring the changes.

              thanks again!
