I was wondering if anyone would be interested in learning or teaching meteor in a work shop in the bay area some time in the near future?

I was thinking of maybe just holding the workshop at a nimby jam one of these sunday nights. or we could do something during the day on say hippie hill some sunday afternoon?

I would love to teach anyone for free even if you've never touched a meteor before. We could even cover how to make a simple cheap practice meteor out of some rope and weights.

anyone interested?
any suggestions?

Let me know if you'd be interested and ill solidify a date and time.

I'd be up for it... though the sum of my experience with the meteor consists primarily of striking myself in the face and genitals. I have some large poi heads that might be good on a meteor, as well as enough kevlar rope to make some fists... any advice on making a meteor (rope or chain, how the mass should be distributed, etc.)?

I have a girl in berkeley that I visit on the weekends, so sunday at nimby would be easy for me to make.

I am totally down to teach people how to make a meteor. I have made several fire meteors and I have a design im finally happy with. I posted a huge post about it and how it works a few months ago with pictures. check that out. As for rope or chain and weight and length I have posted my detailed opinion about that as well. let me know if you cant find the posts.

If people want to buy some rope and some weights and bring them to the workshop I can teach everyone how to tie monkey fists =] but as for fire meteors the simplest designs is some rope some chain two poi heads of any kind and some Kevlar thread. I can run people through what i have learned from that design as well.

So the next few Sundays are actually really bad for me. fire arts fest and all. So maybe we can do something during the day in the city? im cool with SF or east bay depending on where most of the people who want to come are closer too.

so far just you two have piped up, wanna help me get the word out? im going to post this in some of the other fire tribes.

      thanks for the help

I'd love to take a meteor workshop, and make a decent practice meteor. I have one of Dave's skarphs also, which I love, but I think I want to make something longer. So yeah, I'm down. I'd prefer Hippie Hill, as I don't have a car and NIMBY is really difficult to get to without one, but I'll try to get to wherever it turns out to be.

        btw Jared, welcome home!!

I'm completely booked this weekend, but pretty much any weekend after this I can work in, day in SF or night at NIMBY, either work for me... I'd likely be able to bring a few more people down from the sacramento area, depending on when this goes down.

I'll look for that post and try to get things together when I get some time... I'll be helping someone make a zippoi today so I might try to pick everything else up while I'm at the hardware store.

I'm down. I'll need to make a burnable meteor, but in the meantime, I've got one of dave's battlescarves.

I'm also down for a workshop (come on, Asians always spring for free shit).

I have a practice one, which often gets mistaken as a bondage tool. Would love to make a fire one.

Weekend days in the City are the best as this chica is carless.

And thanks for spreading the meteor love.

this sunday I'll be there from at least 2pm until the evening jam ends. I might have some DDI stuff to do so the evening Jam is ideal for me but if any of you only have the day available feel free to drop by sooner and snag some of my time.

          see you on sunday!

sorry I did not make it out there.
I went to pick up the camera at my friend's house and realized he has a pool......

couldn't resists - had to choose between sitting in a car without ac for 50 minutes or .... jump in the pool...

Let me know if you'll do this again. I still really want to learn. I am getting too many bruises...
